Melissa McCarthy. This beautiful cover... controversial?
That's right, actress and comedienne Melissa McCarthy has been chosen to grace a cover of US 'Elle' magazine's 'Women in Hollywood' edition this month.
But according to Slate, not everyone is so pleased with her shoot.
Her cover counterparts - Marion Cotillard, Shailene Woodley, Naomie Harris, and Reese Witherspoon - all show at least some skin. Melisssa though is almost completely covered, her hands in an oversized coat.
Slate calls McCarthy the issue’s “token plus-size cover girl”. WOW.
Melissa once said she wanted to start a plus size line because she was tired of looking “like a 98-year-old woman or a 14-year-old hooker."
And now, according to US Weekly, 'Elle' has issued an official response to the controversy surrounding the McCarthy cover:
