Ellen DeGeneres Reacts to Prize Winner's Husband Brandon McGraw's Death

Such a sad story.

Tragedy has struck 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' - Marine Brandon McGraw died last weekend during an Australian trip his wife, Cherilyn McGraw, won on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show last January, TMZ reports.

The couple redeemed the trip to Australia last week and went skydiving together on Saturday, December 14. According to TMZ, Cherilyn made a tandem jump while her husband Brandon McGraw, who was experienced, followed behind her solo.

An employee at the skydiving school told TMZ that Brandon's parachute caused him to veer suddenly right and left before crashing to the ground at approximately 300 feet. Brandon was pronounced dead at the scene.

UPDATE: DeGeneres released the following statement to Us Weekly just now:  "I've been speaking with Cherilyn. And my staff has been in touch with her as well. She's asked us to help keep this private as she tries to deal with this unimaginable tragedy. I hope everyone respects that."

TMZ reports that Cherilyn shared a picture of her husband from inside the plane before his jump flashing a big smile at the camera. "My hero. My angel," she captioned the snapshot. "These are truly such symbolic photos. He was happy and doing what he loved."

Brandon was 33 years old.

Very sad.

Ellen on Bethenny's Show: Addresses Rift Rumours

Bethenny welcomes Ellen to the show, and her mentor wastes no time in shooting down rumours of a rift:

The episode airs today in Australia, on Arena on Foxtel, at 5.30pm. Look for repeats throughout the evening and on Friday.

Ellen said to Bethenny: "I mean you have not invited me to your house but I've invited you to mine so that has happened but someday maybe, I don't know," Ellen joked, with Bethenny giving an interesting reply.

"My ex-husband lives in my house Ellen," Bethenny said. Yes, Jason Hoppy is living under the same roof as Bethenny.

Ellen replied: "Well then I am not going there. Let me say this because I only hear about this stuff I don't really pay attention to what's in the press but I did hear that there was a story that I was distancing myself from you and from the show and I wanted my name off of the show and I think people think, as Andy Cohen (the man behind the reunion 'Real Housewives' specials said on your show the other day, that there is always a tiny bit of truth to any rumour that you read.

"There is absolutely not one crumb of truth in that at all. I am not distancing myself from your show, I love you. I am so proud of you. I am proud to have my name on it and I think that you are amazing and we are friends."
