New breakfast radio team: 2DayFM, 2014

The new breakfast radio team for 2DayFM has been revealed... Jules Lund, Merrick Watts, Sophie Monk and Mel B.

The social media campaign teaser asked people to register to to 2DayFM's site in order to find out first.

Mel B said, “Get ready Australia....I AM BACK!  I'm so excited to join the 2Day FM breakfast team with Sophie, Jules and Merrick in 2014. It’s going to be one hell of a ride!’’

Jules Lund said, "What a SEXY line-up?! I've got the hots for two in particular. No offence to Soph."

Merrick Watts said, “I’m pumped to be joining Sydney’s leading station to launch a brand new radio show with proven talent like Jules Lund and exciting and fresh breakfast radio voices Sophie and Mel B. We are going to have a hell of a lot of fun!”

Sophie Monk said, “I love Jules like an annoying brother. I've looked up to Merrick since I worked with him 10 years ago on breakfast and Mel B is a legend. But most of all, I'd like to give a shout out to my school teachers. You were wrong suckers, I'm now getting paid to do everything you kicked me out of class for, I've never used long division in my life…Thanks 2day.”

Southern Cross Austereo Head of Content Craig Bruce said: “I’m one happy chappy. We're obviously really excited about the new line-up. We're looking forward to bringing some new ideas and fresh, original thinking to 2day breakfast in 2014.”

Jules, Merrick, Sophie with special guest Mel B will be on on 2Day FM from January 2014.

Social Diary Christmas Party 2013: Halloween & Phobias Theme

The Social Diary Christmas party is the annual get together for the media industry.

But this is no ordinary party. It's the party of the year.

Big call, I know... but it kinda seem appropriate that the site (Social Diary brings industry news to its subscribers, including a weekly roundup of the parties of the week) which reports on everyone else's parties should throw the biggest bash to outdo them all... it's only fitting, and now kinda expected by those who attend!

The theme was Halloween, and "what's your phobia?"

With hundreds of goodie bags, 30 models on the runway wearing really beautifully styled up outfits from boohoo.com, 120 furry spiders (yikes!), 100 event crew, over 1150 RSVPs (yes, it was packed!), three 'Best Dressed' judges, 3 DJs (including the fabulous 'The Faders'), cray costumes (see below), and a very special surprise performer - Guy Sebastian, who was fantastic - it was an incredible do.

There were Gelatissimo cones, incredible food and loads of it, and cocktails galore. The goodie bags were almost too heavy to carry home. So generous from the person behind it all: founder of Social Diary founder Tiffany Farrington.

'The Kyle and Jackie O Show': Announce Show Finish

In news just in, 'The Kyle and Jackie O Show' has just called it quits, after 13 years together.

Wendi Deng: The Pie. The Slap. The Divorce.

Remember Wendi Deng?

You know, the loyal wife (and former volleyball player!) of Rupert Murdodch who went the big slap on a heckler who attempted to throw a cream pie on Murdoch as he testified before a British parliamentary committee following the UK phone hacking scandal (I have always wondered if these are actual cream or shaving cream...) Watch:



The Age newspaper has reported the billionaire mogul News Corp boss and the former executive at his giant Asian media company Star TV are over, after he filed for divorce in the New York Supreme Court.

The filing stated the "relationship between husband and wife has broken down irretrievably".

Murdoch is 82 and Ms Deng is 44 and were married 14 years ago - they have two daughters, 11-year-old Grace, and nine-year-old Chloe.

Murdoch requested that custody of the couple’s daughters be shared between him and Deng, a Chinese-born graduate of Yale University 38 years his junior.

A pre-nuptial agreement signed before their 1999 wedding will ensure Ms Deng’s claim to a share of his $US11 billion wealth.

Interestingly, a former nanny to the couple, who was previously described by a spokesman for the Murdochs as a ‘‘disgruntled former employee’’, said in 2012 that Ms Deng ‘‘curses Rupert all the time. A lot of f-words. She’s always yelling, crying’’. She added: ‘‘Everyone who works for her hates her and is scared of her.’’

The article also claims Deng embarrassed Murdoch early in their marriage by telling an associate in Hong Kong that ‘‘Rupert takes Viagra, but he doesn’t really need it’’.

Murdoch's second wife Anna, who had daughter Elisabeth and sons Lachlan and James with Murdoch, reportedly pocketed $US1.7 billion in the divorce, including $US110 million in cash.
