Caramel Apples: FAIL

I think as y'all know I've been jumping totally embracing the fact that fall is just around the corner. I've been whippin out the sweaters, boots & scarves and burning fall candles already.

Well, I had this great idea to make caramel apples.

What says "Fall" better than those??

First of all, let me rewind here.. Everytime I eat a Butterfinger Caramel Apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory (which happens to be often..) I always leave thinking, "HA. this is just for convenience sake. WHY am I paying $7.00 for a freaking caramel apple I can obviously make at home.."

I see pictures like these on the internet and laugh.
EASY!

Okay.. now fast forward to now.. 

Well, to give you an idea of how my apple dipping session went..

 That's my poor hand with a scalding caramel burn which came with a bad word and also blistered the next morning.

CARAMEL APPLE FAIL!

Obviously I should just stick to buying them from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. I also have a new found respect for the people that work there dipping apples all day.

I also no longer have a problem spending $7.00 for a perfectly dipped apple.

p.s. if any of you Martha-Stewarts-in-the-cooking-department out there have a good recipe and can teach me.. haha let me know!

Friday Fab 5: Fall Edition

It's been forever since I've done a Friday Fab 5 post.

Fall makeup. More specifically hues of purple and dark lips!

Patterned tights. I've always been slightly obsessed and CHECK THESE BABIES OUT! Gold studs? You bet I'll be wearing these this fall!

Benefit They're Real Mascara. Obviously to pair with my fall makeup. I'm so picky about which mascaras I use & I've fallen in love with this one..  They're not kidding. World's #1 Mascara for a reason people!



#4:

Comfy Fall clothes.
Even better: Comfy tall socks.
Perfect to wear with Fall boots!!


#5:

Minnetonka 3 Layer Moccasins.
WANT.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

 

OKAY, THIS pumpkin chocolate chip cookie recipe is SO GOOD!

..and SO easy..

 

[All of the ingredients needed are listed above]

 

1. Combine pumpkin, sugar, vegetable oil & egg. In a separate bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon & salt. Dissolve the baking soda with the milk and stir in. Add flour mixture to pumpkin mixture and mix well.

 

2. Add vanilla & chocolate chips

{if you like nuts, you'd add about 1/2 cup with the chocolate chips- I think they're disgusting so I didn't add them}

 

3. Drop by spoonful on greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

 

SERIOUSLY THAT'S IT!

this made EXACTLY two dozen cookies.

 

And they were freaking good.

 

At this point there was only 1 cookie missing after this picture was taken there were 4 missing, and I was home alone.

 

 

Was my cookie dinner delicious you ask??

Why yes, yes it was.

I am SO excited

about today being the FIRST day of October.

I've never really been stoked about fall but I'm loving the beautiful leaves changing, the cooler air in the evenings and the mere fact that boot & scarf season is HERE!

 

Halloween is in T-30 days, which means Halloween crafts up the wazoo.

Last year my brother and I tried to go to as MANY haunted houses & Ghost Tours as we possibly could. This year, we are going to do even more.

 

October means scary decorations, gross looking food, yummy caramel apple ciders, crisp leaves in the driveways, sweatshirts, acorns galore, pumpkin pie & hot chocolate at Pink Gma's house, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies & Pumpkin carving.
